Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our cycling holiday along the River Moselle cycleway. This biking vacation along the River Moselle in Germany is available as a level 2 self guided cycle tour. The vineyard lined Moselle Valley provides a uniquely inviting setting for a fabulous cycle tour. You will trace your way along the meandering bends and curves while learning about its rich and varied history. Of course you can also try the rich fruity Moselle wines to see if they live up to there reputation. When you reach each destination or during the days ride walk around the ancient narrow lanes and splendid avenues of the river’s charming villages and historic cities.

Day 1 arrival in Metz
If you have time after your arrival you can explore this wonderful city. You will also pick up your rental bikes in Metz.

Day 2  Metz to Perl 39 miles 63 km by bike
After a relaxing start to your holiday looking around Metz you cycle to Thionville then onto Perl just across the French / German Border.

Day 3  Perl to Trier 33 miles 52 km
Today you start cycling along the German / Luxenburg Border via Remich passing the ruin “Thorn”, Grevenmacker with its butterfly-garden and Oberbillig a fishing museum, soon you will reach historic Trier. Trier is said to be the oldest city of Germany so it is worthwhile a visit. The Roman routes are present by the magnificent Porta Nigra abd Constantines Basilica, the amphie theatre as well as the Roman Spa Kaisertherme. Arrival to Trier if you are on the 5 night tour.

Day 4 Trier to Neumagen-Dhron/Trittenheim 33 miles  52 km
You continue to cycle along the Moselle Valley and pass Schweich, the Trittenheimer Moselschleife and the wine yards of Trittenheim. Your night in Neumagen-Dhron is the oldest wine growing village of Germany or sometimes we stay in neighbouring Tittenheim if Neumagen-Dhron is not available.

Day 5  Neumagen-Dhron to Zell/Bullay 38-40 miles 60-64km
On route today you see the famous Moselschleifen, cycle to Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trarbach and to Zell which is a wonderful wine growing village. Sample some local wine.

Day 6  Zell/Bullay to Cochem  24 miles 37 kmBiking vacation River Moselle
As you cycle today you will see the steepest vineyards of Europe. Later on the day you will pass through Calmont with its ruined monastery and Beilstein with its ruined castle  of Metternichs. You will stay tonight in the picturesque Cochem.

Day 7 Cochem to  Koblenz, 30 miles 49 km
Today is castle day , as you cycle you will see numerous castles like Klotten, Bischofstein and Thurant , all worthwhile a stop and a look , soon you will arrive in Koblenz and you tour is now complete. 

Day 8 Departure of extra nights
You have the possibility to book additional nights, or travel back to Metz/Trier by bus (Saturday) or by train (other days)
