You will experience the intimidating Cathedral domes in Speyer, Worms and Mainz which are impressive witnesses of 1000 years of history along Europe’s longest river. Each of them was erected at the crossroads of important trading and traveling routes, surrounded by beautiful scenery. On this cycle tour you can enjoy a varied and interesting route cycling along cycle paths which are mainly flat, once in the wine growing region the terrain is a little more rolling. You will cycle along the idyllic old waters of river Rhine, past cultural treasures and the biggest German wine producing area Rhein-Hessen and the Pfalz.

Day 1 Individual arrival to Heidelberg
Arrival to Heidelberg and enjoy a beautiful evening in the unique ambiance of Germany’s oldest University City.
Day 2 Heidelberg to Worms 28 miles 45 km
Today you set off cycling along the river Neckar into the old Roman town of Ladenburg with its splendid medieval centre. Through the Rhine’s plains you continue the tour to the imperial city of Worms with the Cathedral dome from the 12th century, Martin-Luther-monument and the oldest preserved Jewish cemetery of Europe. Arrival to Worms for those on the shorter 5 night tour.
Day 3 Worms to Oppenheim 34 miles 55 km
Today you continue an enjoyable cycling along the river Rhine, often on idyllic paths along the old waters until you reach Oppenheim today’s destination. Oppenheim is the city of gothic architecture and wine producing. Explore the underground old town, the labyrinth of Oppenheim and follow the traces of Martin Luther.
Day 4 Oppenheim to Rüdesheim 37 miles 60 km
The second imperial dome of the tour we discover in Main, capital of Rheinland-Pfalz region. Here you cross river Main and can visit the Gutenberg-museum. In idyllic town Rüdesheim you can enjoy a splendid view over the Middle-Rhine-Valley from a cable car.
Day 5 Rüdesheim to Alzey 28 miles 45 km
First you cross over the river Rhine and reach Bingen, where the river Nahe flows into Rhine and constitutes an intersection of four wine-growing territories. Apart from the “mouse-tower” in Binger Loch you should also visit the Drusus Bridge from the 10th century and the bridge chapel. Soon you will reach your days destination Alzey.
Day 6 Alzey to Grünstadt 25 miles 40 km
Today a short cycle day with enough time to explore the wine-culture which is awaiting you. You reach the start of German Wine producing region in Bobenheim and finish the day in tranquil Grünstadt. Plenty of time to sample the local wine today.
Day 7 Grünstadt to Neustadt Weinstrasse 21 miles 35 km , if on the 5 night tour Grünstadt to Worms 18 miles.
Today you cycle through lots of beautiful little wine producing towns, the cultural highlights of the day. Visit the largest wine-barrel of the world in Bad Dürkheim and if you are traveling beginning of September you might be lucky to see the largest wine festival of the world. In Deidesheim visit the Wine Museum in medieval town hall.
Day 8 Neustadt – Heidelberg 34 miles 55 km ( 5 night tour departure from Worms)
Today you will cycle to the third of imperial cathedral domes you find in Speyer. Enjoy the marvelous medieval ambience of Speyer’s old town and visit the splendid castle and park of Schwetzingen.
