Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our cycling holiday in Greece. This biking vacation in Greece is a wonderful guided bike tour by bike and boat. Stunning cycle rides during the day and relaxation on your floating hotel at night. The wonders of this type of holiday is that if you do not cycle or do not wish to cycle you can stay on board and soak up the sun. This bike and boat tour is around the Islands of the Central Greek Aegean Sea by mountain bike. On a comfortable Turkish gulet and by bike you explore the sun islands of the Greek Aegean. The islands are a magical and mythical world filled with historical monuments and an abundance of stories. A world painted by the sun and surrounded by the life-giving sea. Come with us on a voyage of discovery and experience the Aegean from a special perspective, namely, by land and by sea. Relax while swimming in idyllic bays, enjoy the fabulous vistas, and walk in the footsteps of a turbulent, glorious past. Let us take you to the ancient asclepieion where Hippocrates, the famous physician, practiced his art. Ride into the amazing crater of the volcano of Nissyros, where Poseidon buried the giant Polybotes, who is still waiting for his liberation , and enjoy the gentle sound of waves breaking on a secluded beach.

2nd day Island of Kos bike tour 12 miles 20 km
Crossing to Kos before lunch. There begins your first bike tour which is always running close to the coast taking you to a beach for a first swim in the Aegean. You spend the evening in Kos, the lively capital of the island. On a tour through the town you will come with each step across traces of the island’s great past. The Roman forum, the fortress of the Knights of St. John, and the mosques from the time when Kos was part of the Ottoman empire stand shoulder to shoulder. You can end the evening relaxing in one of the town’s numerous bars and cafes.
3rd day Island of Nissyros bike tour 22 miles 35 km
Early in the morning, the ship takes you off to the volcanic island of Nissyros. Along with the Santorini volcano, it is one of the few active volcanoes in Greece. The bike tour takes you first up the crater rim to Nikia. From there you have a fabulous view into the volcano’s caldera. Then follows a rapid downhill ride into the crater and a walk into another, smaller crater. The smell of sulfur proves that the volcano is still active. Along a fairly demanding gravel route you first bike up to the rim of the volcano and then on to the small port of Mandraki. There the ship is waiting to take you to Kardamena on the island of Kos.
4th day Island of Kos bike tour 19 miles 30 km
After breakfast you leave Kardamena on your mountain bike and cycle at first towards the airport. With some luck, you can enjoy here the impressive sight of airplanes starting and landing. Then you continue on to the peacock forest, where you can watch and even feed more than 50 peacocks living in the wild.
The destination of today’s cycle tour is the harbour of Mastichari, where the ship is already waiting totake you on a longer crossing to Lakki located on a deep bay on the island of Leros.
5th day Island of Leros bike tour 20 miles 32 km
Leros is green and varied, continuously offering new vistas and surprising glimpses into small bays. The bike tour takes you to the fortress of the Knights of St. John at Aghia Marina and into its maze of small lanes. After a break for a coffee at the idyllic port, you cycle on to the sea washed chapel of Aghios Isodoros, where many a couple has tied the knot for life. In the afternoon you continue to Potnia, the main port of the island of Kalymnos, which used to be a centre for sponge diving and which is nowadays considered a Mecca for climbers.
6th day Island of Kalymnos bike tour 24 miles 38 km
From the port of Potnia you cycle first to the west coast of the island. Here you have a wonderful view of the neighbouring island of Telendos. The tour then follows a longer uphill ride into a valley which for this barren island is surprisingly green. You continue as far as the quiet fishing village of Vathi, where you can take a coffee break in a cozy taverna. Then you cycle along a high panoramic route to return to Pothia. If you feel like going on for a bit, it is worthwhile to make the short detour to the Aghioi Pantes monastery, where you have a wonderful view across the harbour. In the afternoon you go by boat to the port of Mastichari on Kos where, as they say you can admire the most beautiful sunset on the island.

7th day Island of Kos bike tour 25 miles 40 km
In the morning our cycle tour goes via Zia, an old Greek mountain village, where a number of cozy tavernas invite you to linger. From there you continue to the world famous excavation site of the Asklepion of Kos, where Hippokrates, the father of modern medicine, was active. Afterwards you cycle to Kos Town. After lunch, on the way to Bodrum, you enjoy the last cruise on board your ship. Bodrum’s vivacious old centre invites you once again to go on another enjoyable walk through town.
