Yet again we have had another brilliant holiday. The weather was colder than it should have been but the new De Rosas were wonderful- Bruce had a X-treme lite and wanted to put it in his suitcase. I had a Merak- the lightest bike I’ve been on. We mixed trips with guides with our own self led tours as we know the area fairly well by now but even so found some new and unspoilt roads to ride along. Italian drivers were as usual particularly polite to cyclists. The hotel is now exquisite. The Well Centre is superb and stopped any stiffening of the body so we felt fresh enough to tackle 100 km rides every day even at our age. There’s a big jacuzzi, an outdoor pool, a steam room and a sauna as well as other luxuries such as a mentholated ice water spray and then a relax room which we used for up to an hour. Despite the food which is limitless and just what you need (well, I don’t actually really need five desserts!) we lost a little weight and felt ten times fitter. As ever the welcome was hugely warm and it speaks volumes that some of the staff are still there after at least the four years that we have been going. And the little things that make all the difference like the cycle clothing daily laundry service is what makes us keep going back. That and the countryside which is varied and peaceful. Thanks once again for all your help.

Back on Monday from a truly marvellous jaunt along the Rad Weg from Passau to Vienna. Wonderful weather fabulous scenery. Excellent hotels and guest houses ( Courtyard Marriott in Linz the best of a fine bunch). Half board option terrific value. Good quality bikes with superb 7 speed gearbox 7 is enough especially when they are as well spaced as these. Luggage transfer worked very well. Very safe less than ten miles on roads the rest on cycle paths. Magical cycling through vineyards and orchards and along the Danube.

From Mestre to Chioggia was a delight, views great and stopped for long afternoon break by the coast. I got back Saturday from my holiday at the cycling resort in Riccione, Italy and I wanted to say I had a wonderful time. The facilities and staff were all great and really made for a superb holiday. Everything was taken care of and arranged per my holiday package and all I had to do was relax and enjoy it all. Have to admit those bike rides kicked my butt a bit as I live in a flatland area so I have minimal experience with hills and definitely nothing like those hills. However I was there for a great time. So thanks for putting together such a great holiday tour package. At this point I don't know if it will be next year or the following year but I'm definitely planning on going back there and will definitely utilize hookedoncycling again. My son had an accident on the first day and Djamilla immediately came and picked us up, took us to a doctor and then drove us to the next hotel. Thanks for your phone message concerning fixing a pre-tour meeting with Giovanni - I didn't pick up the message until after we had actually met as we set off for Italy before you phoned. The meeting went smoothly, the Tour product was excellent and as you advised Giovanni was very helpful not least in resolving the odd minor hiccup. Very pleasant and knowledgeable guy. We thought the route was really well constructed and whilst the Hotel Santa Fiora was comparatively average we recognised some of the difficulty in finding hotels in that particular area. The other hotels were either good or in the cases of the Italia in Urbino and Cortona, and the Antico Casale in Scansano, exceptional.
We are hoping to try the Mont Ventoux / Provence Independent tour next July once we know the details of the Tour de France so we can dovetail the two. If its as good as our previous 3 Hooked on Cycling trips we will be very satisfied

We have just returned from a really splendid Danube tour. We have nothing but praise for the whole organisation and bring home many happy memories and loads of photos. We were fortunate to have had good weather, with only two mornings marred by a few spots of rain. The rest of the time we enjoyed hot sunshine and have returned home well tanned! I am 64 and an experienced European cyclist but for my 54 year old wife this was a new experience. However, the modest distances by day allowed the planned route and our diversions to be accomplished with ease. In fact we covered about 250 miles on our bikes over the six days. The cycles with which we were provided were in good condition and well up to the task. The accommodation in a variety of gasthofs/hotels was a delight, each one being completely different from the last and all of high standard. The half-board option was more than adequate for us. We did not meet one single other British person on the whole holiday, and for us that was a particular plus point, as we like to feel on holiday that we are truly 'getting away' from home. The baggage transfer system was impressive in its efficiency; everything went smoothly. So, all in all, ten out of ten for the holiday and we will be happy to recommend to anyone.

The morning breakfasts were plentiful with a variety of breads, meats, fruits, etc. and were much better than on some other trips we took where all we were offered was bread and jam. The sightseeing was beautiful and each day’s ride rightly sized - not too long nor too short. Excellent planning.

I wanted to give you feedback on our Andalusia tour. I'm delighted to say that we had a superb trip in all respects, but of particular note were that the route was extremely well designed and constructed, a lot of thought and planning had clearly gone into it. Road surfaces were almost exclusively of fantastic quality. Our 4 hotels were ideal for the purpose, and their locations were good too. We had full confidence in all of the logistics, directions and distances were precise and accurate, luggage transfers very smooth and generally everything seemed to have been anticipated and planned in detail.

Does your site have a feedback facility?- we would love to tell visitors to it about our fantastic experience on the Cycle and Culture self guided tour out of Alhama de Granada we completed a couple of weeks ago. On a more personal feedback note we would like to express our admiration for your ground handler Terry (and his partner Lisa) - an absolutely fantastic guy in terms of how he supported us. Since the tour was self guided and we had already received the route guides etc we expected to be collected from the train station and taken to our first hotel, given the bikes and told 'have a great time, call me if you need me, see you in a week'. No way. Terry was the ultimate host, settled us in, spent time with us not only talking through the route, but giving us tips and sharing local advice and information with us, offered the use of the office computer so we could check our email, he went out of his way to ensure we had bikes that suited us, was there for us every second day to make sure we were all good for the next leg, texted us when he found there was road hazard we needed to watch for, followed up at one point when there was some question whether we had got to our hotel, and then to top it all off, he and Lisa took us out for an evening of tapas bar crawling once we got back to Alhama de Granada - and from our conversations that evening we learned so much more about the local people and their lives. You really do have a top man on the spot there, and a man who is clearly passionate about his work. The extra night in Montefrio that the tour description suggests was a great option, we would recommend you really push that as a value added feature.

Back in Denmark resting my legs. What a lot of steep hills, but I managed them all except the first 30 meters of Honister Pass. Thanks for the tour and hope the bike got back to you okay. I enjoyed the trip - the scenery and the people and even the weather was good. Just had to remember to cycle on the left side of the road. The route instructions and maps were great. So thanks for a great trip and maybe see you again to drop off another bike one day.

Our holiday experience overall was excellent , of particular note was that the bikes were new, fit for purpose and well sorted. The organisation was exemplary . The routes were very well thought out and easy to follow. John provided magnificent support on a daily basis, taking the trouble to follow our route until he caught up with us to establish that we were OK , before moving on to complete delivery of our luggage. John and Terry also took the trouble to revalidate the routes where necessary as there has evidently been a substantial road repair program under way in the region for some months. Route changes were therefore communicated to us in a very timely manner. Terry and John also met up with us on the final day to ask for feedback and to discuss any ideas the we had to develop the style of holidays on offer via Hooked on Cycling. I will certainly be in touch with you on this later in the year as we are keen to further explore this region of Spain.

It was a lovely trip. we had taken a self-guided bike trip along the Danube two years ago, through a USA company called Bike Direct, and I think they used a company called RadFreunde in Austria. We took the "deluxe" trip, but it didn't seem so deluxe - one hotel in particular wasn't very nice, another gave us the smallest room I'd ever seen. This was a more expensive trip than yours also. All of the b&bs you selected were very nice, and I thought they were much nicer overall than the hotels we stayed in on our only other bike trip, you also had better bikes and much better panniers. Being in Scotland makes me want to go back and explore more of it. Not only is Scotland beautiful, but I've never met such friendly people. People were constantly striking up conversations with us in different places. We loved our beautiful bike trip, we would love to explore more of Scotland, and we will tell anyone interested in a cycling trip to use your company. We will definitely be taking another trip with you, but now we have the difficult task of trying to figure out where to go next. My favorite part was cycling out in the country and in the tiny towns that aren't mentioned in any travel guides. I think that biking is the best and loveliest way to really see, feel and smell the countryside up close.

We are just back from our Family in Canalonia Cycling Trip in Spain. We had the most wonderful time. I think we were the only Cycling Tourists (in fact we were the only tourists in hotels we stayed in) because November doesn't seem to be a popular tourism month. Lucky for us the weather was unseasonably warm .... mornings were cool but it hit the 20's each day and no rain.
Everything went very smoothly. The hosts for the hostels bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable.
We loved having the topo map as well as the written instructions because it gave us many more options to expand our days or alter routes to suit our daily plans. We have never seen such a 'Bike Friendly' country! The bicycle routes are so well marked with signage and stickers that it was just a joy to head out and explore that incredibly gorgeous countryside.. Seeing the Costa Brava a few times was such a great bonus for this trip. We just loved it.

First I wanted to thank for the incredible experiences that I had last week in Portugal. Your service was outstanding! The bike routes were well planned out and easy to follow. The variety of scenery and locations of guest houses was impressive. I took lots of pictures of the beaches, cliffs, mountain sides and villages that I visited along the way. Of particular note was the small village of Santa Clara. At first I was wondering why I needed to stop and stay here; there was no real attraction to see and I could have easily made it to the next stop in Odemira. However; after a short time I realized why I was there. It was incredible to see these happy people, who had very little in the way of possessions, fancy clothes, fancy cars, big homes or technology. They seemed so happy and content living the stress free simple live. After this experience, I will never take for granted the life I have back home in the US and I have a new perspective on what is really important in life. Thanks again and If I'm ever heading in your direction I'll be sure to look you up.

We'd like to thank you for the great adventure we had cycling the Loire chateaux. We only had one problem on day one following your directions (we never found the allee couthy, but cycling along the road instead led to master chocklatiere Max Vauche. Once we learned your system and the road sign system, we did well. You did a great job of routing us mostly onto good roads with light traffic, through beautiful scenery. The St Florent in Mont-Pres Chambord was the best hotel and restaurant of the three. The host was fantastically helpful and the beds were most comfortable. The manager at La Breche was less helpful. The food also did not compare with the other two hotels. We hope to do another biking trip with you in the future. We'll keep in shape and save up!

Overall, it was excellent and really enjoyable. Everything was smooth. We had just one problem with one of the four bikes - a broken chain - and the system of bike changes worked very well, just added a couple of hours. The hotel in Trier was great, by far the best of the trip. Nell's Park Hotel. I real discovery. High quality, lovely al fresco bar/restaurant area; good feel, excellent rooms, helpful staff. Trittenheim was a very pleasant wine warehouse/showroom with some good quality rooms above. Pleasant village in a nice setting, excellent breakfast. Koblenz was a rather excellent and rather iconic Contel. Near the river, but a bit off the beaten track. We will be in touch about another cycling holiday next year!

I wanted to follow up on our trip from Leon to Santiago. We had a fantastic time and were very very well satisfied with your preparations on our behalf and we all had a great sense of accomplishment. My brother (57), myself (56) and our two wives did the trip and although we are both reasonably strong cyclists our wives were not and so to finish off the trip was a sense of accomplishment for all. Going up hills we initially tried to steer their rider less bikes up the hill but quickly realized that in order to all travel together the best way was for each of us to push our spouse up the hill (supporting their back or pushing on the saddle bag) and we would do this until we were exhausted at which point we would dismount and the men would place themselves in between two bikes and push them both up the hill with the wives walking up. With this technique we all stayed together and managed just fine. The distances were perfect. Hotels were excellent and except for the very meager breakfast at the first hotel in Leon we were very satisfied. The instruction book was a little overkill as the trail was usually extremely well marked. People should be instructed to seek dinner in the main squares as western people are not aware that the locals turn out in mass to the squares and this is where most of the action is. All in all a most enjoyable experience.

We had an excellent holiday and managed yet again to dodge the rain, despite foul weather forecasts. By and large, the holiday rated a score of 5 on all counts. The whole tour went smoothly, without hitch and Alison's not eating meat was no problem. The terrain was a lot more undulating than we expected, as the route only really touched the Loir at bridges in towns, most of the route being in the surrounding foothills. As regards accommodation, the first two were interesting and full of character, but Domaine de Bre was by far the most welcoming and Madame Brigitte was great fun. We now look forward to booking with you next year.

My wife, Roma, and myself completed your Pembrokshire cycle tour in August and I just wanted to pass on some comments. It was a great week with some challenging trails and overall everything that we would have wanted from the holiday. Even the weather was good except for the ferry journeys to and from Ireland, something you cannot take the blame for. I wanted to especially pass on our thanks to Peter at Pembrokeshire Bikes. Not only did he have everything ready when we arrived, but when there was a problem with one of the bikes he arranged within the hour a replacement bike to be delivered 30 miles away in Saundersfoot. On top of that he very graciously provided us with a lift to the ferry and on top of that we even had a pleasant couple of pints in the local pub with him and a member of staff. Overall extremely helpful and our thanks to him. I also wanted to thank Chris and his wife Helen at the Manor House who both were great hosts who made us feel very much at home, not minding that on a couple of evenings we took over their front room and sang away the evenings. And the breakfasts provided were more an event than just a meal. Again our thanks We will probably be taking another tour next year so we will be in touch in the new year.

We have just returned from Italy where we participated in your Balzano to Venice bike tour and it was wonderful. I have never done anything like this before and it was a great experience for my first time. The weather was perfect – hot and sunny every day, but not so hot that it was unbearable. Our fellow bikers were wonderful companions and we truly had a marvelous time. The hotels were perfect – my favourite was the San Rafael in Vicenza (the desk clerk even phoned our next hotels to ensure my friend and I were given a room with twin beds, that’s going above and beyond). I also want to mention the extremely friendly and helpful reception we had in Desenzano. They were expecting us and had our luggage delivered to our rooms already. They recommended a wonderful restaurant for supper and were generally very helpful. (I’ve forgotten the name but it’s just up the hill from the dock on the way to Peschiera). We had not paid for an upgrade on the hotels, which was completely unnecessary because the standard ones were perfectly fine.
The route was extremely picturesque and September is an especially wonderful time to be cycling through Italy when all the crops are ripe, and the fruit is fresh off the vine. I love biking along the back roads and even along the gravel paths through the fields.
The cost was very reasonable with good bikes, excellent maps and directions (once we realized about the arrows we were supposed to be looking for – our host kept mentioning look for arrows at eye level but several of us didn’t realize that he was referring to actual stickers along the route. Could have been a language thing). Would I recommend your company – absolutely! I am already scanning your site for my next bike holiday because I have become “hooked on cycling.”

Enjoyed the cycling tour tremendously. Scenery especially on the first 2/3 days was absolutely fabulous. All of the accommodation was good, especially liked the charm and character of the agro-tourism farms so Koros, Rogar, Stare, Mountain Hut, although the other accommodation was good too. Enjoyed the food very much too wherever it was included. The Pension Stare were keen for us to eat with them also, although it wasn't included there, which we did, and we did not regret it, it was excellent and very good value.
Almost froze to death at the top of the mountain pass on the way to the mountain hut! Rain was falling as snow near the top. However, we warmed up at an eating place at the Sorska Planina, and were able to change to dry jumpers we had in rucksacks and for me a more waterproof jacket than the one I'd started with. From there of course it was downhill, so the temperature started to rise a little so that the hands were able to continue to operate the brakes! I was a little worried that they (the hands) would stop working!
It was such a relief to meet with Rudolf and his wife in the mountain hut where the stove was on and they helped us dry our wet things. They were, as you had said, extremely friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay here very much.

We were blessed with perfect weather bar one morning when we had about 2 hours of drizzle and we dried out quite quickly. The scenery was picture perfect and we met a quite few fellow cyclists. One couple in their mid 60's were cycling through Europe they had notched up 2,500 km when we met them. Sounds like my ideal holiday.

Had a fantastic time in Sardinia and wanted to email and thank you for a great holiday, I will put a nice comment on Trip Adviser. The ground handler was fantastic. We were concerned before we went about the map reading as two ‘girls’ not great at map reading we had no idea how good the maps would be when we arrived or how we would cope with this. I think you could beef this up on your website, eg. that every customer receives a highly detailed booklet with very accurate descriptions of how to find your way...(the instructions were really excellent and you don’t really need to be able to read a map to follow it all....). We were disappointed not to be able to see any of Calasetta – it might be good to add an extra night here, just as an option en route... A fantastic holiday, with some wonderful accommodations and lovely people, thanks very much!
