Tour Details

The city of Dubrovnik and its surrounding countryside has a remarkable history over many centuries, even more recently in the early 1990’s it was involved and partly destroyed during the Balkans conflict which resulted in the breakup of Yugoslavia into separate countries. There was a huge displacement of citizens from the Konavle countryside into the city, with many evacuated by ship to save heavens. This tour starts in this beautiful Dubrovnik countryside region of Konavle, exploring the small villages and the extremely coastal town of Cavtat. You shall then transfer further north passing Dubrovnik to the Peljesac peninsula before crossing the wonderful Islands of Korcula and Mljet. You will then return to Dubrovnik allowing you time to explore the city but also take a day trip over to the island of Sipan.

Today your first ride will allow you to explore the wonderful farming region south of Dubrovnik. The cycle route will follow the river Ljuta and its valley, passing through the village of Zvekovica before reaching the coastal town of Cavtat. There is a lovely walk/cycle path around a peninsular looping out and back from Cavtat with stunning coastal and views inland. Cavtat itself has a pretty and historic old town centre. Now you head back towards Konavle passing a group of villages in Gornja Banda.

Today we provide a shuttle from Konavle to Peljesac peninsula and to Korcula island. For those who wish to do the full ride, you can cycle from Peljesac peninsula on the bike route (for up to 50 km), this route is very scenic but will have some undulating parts. If you do not wish to along the peninsula then it is possible to transfer to Korcula and does a shorter bike ride on the island.

Day 4KORCULA LOOP RIDE 23 miles 37km.

Now you are on Korcula Island we suggest a circular ride from the village Lumbarda to Korcula town wherein the old town you can visit Cathedral, the house of Marco Polo and many more interesting places. After town sightseeing and maybe some lunch, you will bike along the coastal road to the picturesque bay of Racisce and then return the same way back to Lumbarda for the final section.

Today you visit the delightful island of Mljet, famous by its natural protected area where are two salt lakes and many historical monuments that date from ancient times. After breakfast you go to the port Korcula where you take the ferry to Mljet, the journey time is around 30 minutes. Your cycle ride starts in village Pomena or Polace (two small towns just outside the national park territory). Your route will take you around the salt lakes, through the villages of Babine Kuće and Soline, and around lakes back to town Polace or Pomena.  Overnight in Polače/Pomena.

Today we depart from Mljet to Dubrovnik, taking a ferry (or combine with a car shuttle, transfer from the island depends on the available ferries and season). Upon arrival in Dubrovnik, you will be taken to your accommodation.

Day 7 ISLAND ŠIPAN 9 miles 15km.

After breakfast, you leave Dubrovnik for a day trip to the Elaphiti island of Sipan. From your Dubrovnik accommodation, you will cycle to port Gruz where bikes are put on board for the crossing to the island of Sipan. Today’s ride on the island is very easy, relax, a short biking distance can combine with sightseeing, swimming and relax on this quiet island. The Island of Sipan was the residential place of Dubrovnik’s patricians but today is a calm and well-preserved typical Dalmatian island. Following the road from Sudjuradj past vineyards and olive groves to Luka, a small harbour on the west of the island. Here you will find many interesting sights to explore, including old churches, summer residential palaces, beautiful pine forests and hidden bays. This is an ideal day for easy cycling, swimming and to relax away from the city crowds. During the afternoon you take a ferry back to Dubrovnik (there are several times that you can choose for return to Dubrovnik). Once back in Dubrovnik time to explore the old town, maybe walk around the city walls, take the cable car up to the local heights and wonder at the panoramic views of the walled city and the Elaphiti Islands. There is much to see and do in Dubrovnik and if time permitting an extra night would be useful.

After the breakfast, a transfer back to Dubrovnik airport is included according to your flight times or transfer to some other address in Dubrovnik town if you extend your holidays for a few more days there.
