This bike and boat tour is around the Kvarner bay region of Croatia. On this cycling holiday, you will experience countless islands in crystal clear water, deeply fissured cliffs, picturesque beaches and numerous small bays. Every island is different. Each has its own history. We will spend a week discovering the landscape and people of this unique island world by bike, independently and with the aid of knowledgeable tour guides. On a romantic motor yacht, our floating accommodation, we discover the charm of the Adriatic in our own special way.

We cycle off after a hearty breakfast. At midday, we meet the ship at a harbour for lunch. In the evening the ship will be waiting in the next harbour so that we can enjoy fantastic cuisine as the sun sets, followed by a stroll through a historic harbour town. Finally, we settle down in our cabins to sleep or stay on deck under a thousand stars.

LINDA (shower/toilet in every cabin)

Ship Linda is a spacious wooden motor yacht. She was built in 1955 and renovated in 2004/2005 to meet the requirements of island-hopping. 31 meters long and 6 meters wide the Linda is among the bigger ships in our Croatian fleet. The spacious saloon can accommodate 32 guests, and the middle sundeck is constructed in a way that meals can also be served outside. The upper deck measures 40 square metres and is big enough for sunbathing.

All cabins have a shower and toilet. Three cosy cabins below deck are equipped with separate beds and two portholes each. Another one has got a French bed with an additional bunk bed above the large bed so that they can also be booked by three persons. On deck, there are ten double cabins. Six of those have a French bed and four double cabins are equipped with separate beds. The crew look forward to welcoming you onboard. All cabins have air-conditioned.

Premium Ship Andela Lora

At 40 x 8.5 m the Andela Lora is an extraordinary, elegant steel ship, built in 2012. With its impressive length it is one of the largest ships in our bike and boat tours. There are seventeen spacious cabins which are air-conditioned and include a shower and WC. The Andela Lora also offers a nice salon on the top deck and numerous comfortable spaces on deck to relax. At the stern of the ship, a swimming platform provides effortless access to the sea! Cabins are between 12-14m².

It is a requirement of booking this tour with Hooked on Cycling that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the chosen activity and for emergency evacuation and hospital care.

Itinerary

Day 1Omisalj to Rabac.

During the day arrive at the port in Omisalj on the island of Krk. Check-in on board is from around 1 pm. Soon after at aropund 2pm, we set sail to the town of Rabac. The town is a beautiful location with many cafes and bars along a stunning promenade.

If you have booked on the premium boat Andela Lora, boarding is at 2pm and at 3pm we sail to Opatija and tghen tomrrow we head towards Rabac.

Day 2Rabac to Island of Cres. 24 miles 39km.

Our first ride starts with an ascent to the town of Labin. Now cycling through the landscapes of Istria, cycling through typical Istrian villages. Now we head back to the coast and board our boat to sail to the Island of Cres. Here you shall see some Italian influence to the cities architecture.

Day 3Islands of Cres and Lošinj approx. 28 km/18 miles by bike

After breakfast, we start our cycle tour from the city of Cres towards Martinšćica. The boat awaits your arrival and lunch is served during the cruise to the island of Lošinj. If the weather is good, the captain will arrange a swim stop along the way before tying off in the harbour of the wellness town, Mali Lošinj. At the port admire its colourful facades and numerous cafes offer its visitors a welcoming atmosphere for a relaxed evening.

Day 4Islands of Lošinj and Ilovik 12 miles 20km.

Today we cycle to the south of Lošinj and visit the picturesque small harbour of Veli Lošinj before we meet the ship for lunch. In the afternoon we cross over to the island of Ilovik. Overnight stay in the quiet harbour on the Island.

Day 5Island of Rab 16 miles 25km.

The island of Rab is one of the sunniest places in Europe. The town of Rab, the fortified capital of the island, was built in the middle-ages on a wedge-shaped headland and marks one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers are the symbol of the adorned beauty of the town. Our bike ride takes us out into the Islands Landscapes which is pretty varied before returning to Rab for the evening.

Day 6 Island of Krk 13 miles 21km.

After breakfast we cruise to the Island of Krk. Starting from the old town, our tour takes us through alternating landscapes, coastal promenades and shaded forests and many secluded bays. After returning to the boat, we spend the evening in the historical town of Krk.

Day 7Island of Krk, approx 45 km / 28 miles

We will cycle over the ridge of the island, which is covered by fragrant macchia to a valley of vineyards and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town built on a 50-metre high cliff is surrounded by vineyards, is the home of the famous white wine, Zlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way will lead us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj, from where Rijeka will be within sight. On the way, we will have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. We’ll spend the last night in Omišalj.

How to get there

By plane to Rijeka, Pula or Zagreb airports and then by train to Rijeka. Transfer by taxi around 15-30 minutes from Rijeka to Omišalj.
