Where To Visit In France

Medieval Dordogne

Provence Walking Tours

When most people think about the French region of Provence they may have images of the Cote d’Azur coast with the blue colour sea, images of lavender fields, images of white horse and pink flamingos of the Camargue or images of quaint Provencal villages, well this is all correct and it is no wonder so many wish to visit this most beautiful region with such varied landscapes.  There are several parts of Provence you can visit on a walking holiday, why not explore the Verdon Gorge to the east just north of Nice, in the west or Provence and close to Avignon is the Luberon National Park or you can hike into the famous wine producing region of the Cotes du Rhone, lastly you can explore the south west of Provence that inspired Van Gogh and several of his paintings in the Alpilles hills.

Alsace

Burgundy Walking Tours

There are many famous Burgundy wines, Chardonnay’s, Pinot Noir’s, Chablis and Beaujolais’s. Indeed, if you enjoy a glass or two then our Burgundy Walking holiday will not disappoint. Burgundy is a flattish region but it is blessed with many a historic town with stunning architecture, quaint streets, fabulous bars and restaurants and wonderful French hospitality.

Normandy

Dordogne Hiking Tours

The Dordogne region of France is one of the prettiest regions to explore on foot.  Rolling hills, quaint villages, most with medieval centres, larger towns with interesting markets that take place a few times per week.  Then there’s the beautiful restaurants where you can sample regional delights and impressive wines. At the same time, we book typically styled French accommodation so you can immerse yourself in this wonderful culture. There is certainly no better way to Explore the Dordogne on Foot on a walking holiday in this region, which is definitely the Dordogne Dream.

Cycling in Provence

Alsace Walking Tours

The Alsace region of France borders the west bank of the River Rhine with Germany situated on the east bank. The mountain range running north to south is known as the Vosges Mountains. These are not high alpine mountains but a mid-range but still breathtakingly stunning. You will surely see some wonderful landscapes while on our Vosges walking holiday. The mountain range has had a difficult past with many conquests over the centuries hence you will find amongst the hills, fortified castles, religious buildings and monuments of war.

Normandy-Brittany Tours

There is so much to see and do in the northern French regions of Normandy and Brittany. Normandy is probably more famous for the landing beaches or the D-Day invasion of UK, Canadian and US soldiers during the 2nd world war. Here you will see many monuments and war cemeteries, a must to visit at least one of these.  Then there is the commune of Mont St Michael and small island off the coastline, that produces a road to cross during low tide!  To the west of Mont St Michael you find lovely towns and cities such as Cancale, famous for its Oysters which are fished in the local bay. Then historic St Malo with history dating to the 6th century. Just nearby is Mont Dol of Britttany, again dating from the 6th century when a Welsh monk Sait Samson built a monastery there. Mont Dol also has the oldest building in the region.  You can experience Mont St Michael and St Malo on our Normandy and Brittany walking holiday and the D-Day landing beaches or our Normandy and D-Day landing beaches walking vacation.
