Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Dijon, the historic capital of the Dukes of Burgundy

Just a short journey from Paris on the high-speed train(1hr30), Dijon welcomes you with its historic charm. Lose yourself in the cobblestone streets, take a deep dive into the history at the Ducal Palace dating back to the 13th century and admire art at the Museum of Fine Arts which is one of the main and oldest in France. Be sure to visit the iconic Eglise Notre-Dame with its striking black Madonna statue. Then, settle in for the night in Dijon.

Day 2Gevrey-Chambertin to Château Clos de Vougeot to Nuits Saint Georges 8miles, 13km, Up 240m / Down 280m

After breakfast, it’s a quick 30-minute transfer to Gevrey-Chambertin, where your journey through Burgundy’s vineyards begins. You’ll stroll along peaceful farming tracks, passing through elegant towns like Chambolle-Musigny and Morey St Denis. Then, it’s on to the prestigious 16th-century Chateau Clos de Vougeot, where you can explore and enjoy a wine tasting lunch (available Tuesday through Sunday). Next stop: Vosne-Romanée, famous for its top-notch Pinot Noir wines. Finally, unwind with a relaxing evening in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Day 3Nuits Saint Georges Loop Walk 9.5 miles, 15km, Up 600m / Down 600m

Today offers two enticing options for your enjoyment. You can find a moderate yet fulfilling loop, the longest available. This scenic route leads you away from the vineyards of Côte de Nuits to explore the wooded hills west of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Enjoy the lush forrests and green meadows, treating yourself to breathtaking views of the picturesque valley of the River Le Meuzin.

Alternatively, opt for a leisurely day of indulgence. Discover the intriguing world of blackcurrants at Le Cassisium, where you can learn about this essential ingredient for Crème de Cassis, a beloved regional liqueur. Alternatively, kick back and relax and embrace the laid-back atmosphere of a terrace café. Treat yourself to a glass of fine wine and put your feet up for the day!

Day 4Hike Fussey to Beaune 8.5miles, 13.5km, Up 135m / Down 383m

 Fuel up with breakfast before hopping into your taxi for a short 15-minute transfer to Fussey, where your journey to Beaune begins. Stroll through the peaceful countryside as you go through oak forests, indulging yourself in the authentic charm of a traditional wine-growing village, Savigny-lès-Beaune.

This hidden gem in the Côte de Beaune region is known for producing Crémant de Bourgogne, a sparkling wine perfect for special occasions. Explore the historic Church of Saint-Cassien with its magnificent Romanesque bell tower to the lovely gardens of the Château de Brézé Manor House, dating back to the 10th century.

Then, head towards Beaune, the capital of Burgundy’s renowned wine industry. Call it a night in Beaune.

Day 5Free day or Beaune Loop Walk 6.25miles, 10km, Up 200m / Down 200m

Today presents multiple options for your adventure. Stroll into the scenic Montagne de Beaune, a picturesque hill just west of Beaune being occupied with charming houses overlooking the famed Côtes de Beaune vineyards.

Alternatively, find yourself in the lively Saturday morning market, a culinary market bursting with local produce. Treat yourself to the fruity Cîteaux cheese, succulent Delice de Pommard and creamy Brillat Savarin. Try the marbled ham, truffles and taste the gingerbread infused with honey.

Don’t forget to explore the grand mansion of the Dukes of Burgundy and the majestic Basilica of Notre Dame. Discover Beaune’s iconic landmarks, including the steep-pitched roofs of the Hôtel Dieu which is now home to a museum.

Within the town’s walls, uncover the charm of Beaune’s historic architecture, from elegant mansions to picturesque wood framed houses. Visit Maison Fallot to witness the craft of mustard-making and taste diverse flavors like blackcurrant, tarragon, honey, and gingerbread-infused mustard. You can even try your hand at making mustard yourself!

Day 6 Beaune to Meursault 8.5 miles, 13,5km, Up 350m / Down 320m

Just a stone throws away from Beaune’s center, the Clos de Beaune Premier Cru wines look forward to your arrival. Take a walk among the vineyards where each area has old stone walls and wine maker’s cabins. Before arriving at the village of Pommard. You can try a wine tasting session at Domaine Le Jeune. Continue towards Volnay, known for its exquisite reds.

Onto the village of Monthelie with its Romanesque church, stately château, and ancient cellars. Your journey finishes in the charming village of Meursault, where you can visit the renowned Château de Meursault which has over 1000 years of history. Explore its enchanting 14th and 16th-century cellars, which house a collection of prestigious bottles. Spend a delightful evening in Meursault.

Day 7Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Beaune(20mins) where you can easily catch a train to Paris.
