Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Vienna

Welcome to Vienna! After checking in, you’ll receive your tour information and get fitted for your bike. Take some time to explore this imperial city, which is perfect for cycling. Ride along the famous Ringstraße to admire architectural marvels like the State Opera, Parliament, Burgtheater, City Hall, and the grand Hofburg Palace. Don’t miss St. Stephen’s Cathedral or the bustling Kärntnerstraße. For a quieter experience, meander through the charming alleys of Old Vienna.

Day 2Vienna to Baden bei Wien (Approx. 45 km)

Your biking adventure begins as you pedal along the Danube Island and bike paths leading to Schönbrunn Palace. Take a sightseeing break to explore the palace grounds (entry not included) before heading to Baden. This historic spa town in the Vienna Woods has a rich story to tell. It’s where Beethoven completed his iconic Ninth Symphony. Highlights include the elegant Roman Spa, the Art Deco thermal baths from 1926, and the renowned Casino Baden. Stroll through its picturesque streets, soaking in the charm that once drew Viennese nobility.

Day 3Baden bei Wien to Rust/Mörbisch (Approx. 55-60 km)

Leave Baden behind and cycle through scenic bike paths into a new landscape. As you approach Europe’s westernmost steppe lake, the surroundings transform with a touch of the Hungarian Puszta. Visit landmarks like Eisenstadt Castle and the Roman stone quarry in St. Margaret (entry not included). The vineyards of Burgenland produce world-famous wines, and cycling through the rolling hills offers stunning views of Lake Neusiedl. End your day in the charming wine towns of Rust or Mörbisch, perfect spots to unwind with a glass of local wine.

Day 4Excursion to Sopron (Approx. 35-45 km)

From the festival town of Mörbisch, famous for its summer operetta festival, cycle through vineyards with sweeping lake views to the Hungarian border. Soon, you’ll arrive in Sopron, a former Roman town with a beautifully preserved old center. Wander its lively streets, admire the picturesque squares, and take in the blend of history and culture. The route back to Mörbisch or Rust takes you through a tranquil lakeside landscape on a scenic bike path.

Day 5Rust/Mörbisch to Neusiedl/Jois (Approx. 50 km)

Start your day with a ferry ride to Illmitz and dive into the wonders of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park. This flat terrain is a paradise for birdwatchers and home to unique salt lakes known as “Lacken.” These shallow, 50 cm-deep lakes give the area its distinctive flora and fauna. As you cycle past wetlands, vineyards, and pastures, you’ll discover why the region is renowned for its wines, especially the prized Trockenbeerenauslese. The scenic Lacken bike trail provides an unforgettable journey through this magical landscape.

Day 6 Rest Day

Take a well-deserved break to enjoy Lake Neusiedl. This area is perfect for a variety of activities, from sailing and surfing to swimming. For cyclists, consider a relaxed ride along the Kirschblütenweg (Cherry Blossom Trail), a picturesque path circling the lake. Whether you choose to explore or simply unwind, this day is all about recharging.

Day 7Neusiedl/Jois to Bratislava (Approx. 65 km)

Feeling refreshed, you’ll set out on the final leg of your journey. Cycle through Rohrau, birthplace of composers Joseph and Michael Haydn, and visit the ancient Roman Carnuntum, where the Amber and Limes roads intersected. Stop by the Heidentor, a massive Roman triumphal monument, and the Open Air Museum in Petronell for a glimpse of a reconstructed Roman town (entry not included). Continue to Hainburg on the Danube, just a short ride from your destination, Bratislava. End your day with a relaxing evening stroll through the Slovak capital’s charming old town.

Day 8Departure

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye and depart with wonderful memories of your biking adventure.
