Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our cycling holiday in Istria. This biking vacation in Istria is a wonderful guided bike tour by bike and boat. Stunning cycle rides during the day and relaxation on your floating hotel at night. What makes this type of holiday wonderful, is that if you do not cycle or do not wish to cycle you can stay on board and soak up the sun. The heart of Europe is what the Istrians call their peninsula, inspired by its shape and its position at the crossroads of European arteries, cultures and nations. This is where Central Europe and the world of the Mediterranean meet. On this tour, we will explore the most popular part of this Croatian coast.
Starting in Omisalj our tour guides will show us the most beautiful routes of the whole coastal region. We’ll visit the Lim channel with its caves, the coastal cities Porec, Rovinj and Pula, as well as the Istrian hinterland, a famous wine and truffle region.

The ship for your tour is a wooden motor yacht with plenty of space to relax. She was constructed in 1955 but renovated in 2004/2005 to meet the requirements of bike and boat tours. The ship 6 metres wide and 31 meters long and among the bigger ships in the Croatian fleet. The spacious dining area can accommodate up to 32 guests. The middle sundeck is built such that you can eat inside or outside. The large upper deck measures some 40m2. Many guests enjoy spending time here sunbathing.
You will find that all the cabins have a shower and toilet. There are 3 cabins situated below deck which are equipped with twin beds and two portholes each. Another one has got a double bed with an additional bunk bed above the large bed so that they can also be booked by three persons. On deck, you will find ten further double cabins. There are double beds in six of these and the remaining cabins have twin beds. The crew look forward to welcoming you onboard. All cabins are air-conditioned
At 40 x 8.5 m the Andela Lora is an extraordinary, elegant steel ship, built in 2012. With its impressive length it is one of the largest ships in our bike and boat tours. There are seventeen spacious cabins which are air-conditioned and include a shower and WC. The Andela Lora also offers a nice salon on the top deck and numerous comfortable spaces on deck to relax. At the stern of the ship, a swimming platform provides effortless access to the sea! Cabins are between 12-14m2.

During the day arrive to the town of Omišalj, a charming position on the island of Krk. You can check in from around 2pm. We start of first cruise to Cres once all have made themselves comfortable. If the weather is good, we stop in a beautiful bay where you can take a swim. Our destination is the island capital of the same name, where we dock for the first night. The Venetian-influenced old town of Cres, with its beautiful alleys and many churches, entices you to take an extensive evening stroll.
After breakfast, we first adjust our bikes in the idyllic harbor of Cres and take a first bike ride towards the lighthouse. Afterwards, we take a cruise a little further to historic town of Pula at the southern tip of the region of Istria. Here we have a guided tour of the old town. The secret capital of Istria awaits us with impressive evidence of its Roman past. Take your time to explore impressive ancient monuments, such as the famous amphitheater reminiscent of the Colosseum in Rome, the Temple of Augustus, and the Golden Gate.
In the morning we explore some picturesque places in and around Pula. We cycle via Galizana and Vodnjan and then further to the fishing village Fazana. Then we cycle back to Pula. Once on board, the boat sails to Vrsar a little further north. There is even the chance for a swim break at the Limski Fjord. In Vrsar, where you will spend the night, the heartbreaker Casanova is believed to have sought temporary refuge from the husbands of his lovers.
Today we cycle along the Limski Canal to Kloštar in the rural landscape. During a longer break we fortify ourselves with a local meal before the tour continues onwards to the destination of Poreč. In the afternoon, we encounter the colourful history of Poreč at every turn as we walk through the charming old town with its beautiful buildings from bygone eras. There is a real energy to be felt in the shopping alleys. A visit to the famous Euphrasius Basilica with its magnificent early Christian mosaics is a must.
After breakfast we set out on our bikes along the “Parenzana”, an abandoned railroad line, which leads us to the famous artists’ village of Groznjan. The picturesque artists’ village is a medieval jewel in the Istrian countryside. Admire its romantic alleys, flower-filled squares and diverse galleries that have made their home in old natural stone houses. Laster that afternoon, we cycle through countryside via Buje to Novigrad, where we hop on board, with the chance for a quick swimming break, before continuing onwards to Rovinj for our overnight stay.
Our today takes us beside the coast, mostly on natural forest paths to Fažana. Fažana has a quaint little harbour and a promenade lined picturesque colorful houses. Afterwards, we continue to Pula, where our boat will take us on a longer crossing to Rabac. Here, located on a picturesque bay on the east coast of Istria, we can enjoy gorgeous white pebble beaches, crystal clear waters and a beautiful harbour.
In the early morning, we sail to the island of Krk, where our last cycle tour takes us. The route will lead us from Njivice to Omišalj. The largest island in Croatia and home of the delicious Zlahtina white wine impresses with its diverse landscapes. Don’t miss the opportunity to cover yourself in the mineral rich mud in the bay of Soline – it will not only leave you looking ten years younger, but also makes for a wonderful holiday memory! Back in the harbour of Omišalj, our boat awaits us with a delicious last evening meal on board which can be spent in great cheer in the company of the fellow travelers, crew and guides.

By plane to Rijecka or Zagreb. Rijecka is a few kilometres from Omisalj.
Transfer by taxi around 15-30 minutes from Rijeka to Omišalj. Collection transfers are available to book from Zagreb on arrival and departure days.
