San Snova

San Snova

Ship San Snova (shower/toilet in each cabin)

The MS San Snova is a brand-new wooden motor sailer to be launched in spring 2009 and made exclusively for Island hopping cruises. The ship, constructed entirely of oak, was built in three years by the Scherka family in their own carpentry workshop as a family project. The ship, 31 m long and 8 m wide meets the highest expectations in regard to comfort, elegance and style, combining romantic seafaring with modernity and functionalism. Young captain Tonci, his brother Josip and ever-cheerful Jelena pride themselves in the meticulous appearance of the ship and the cordiality on board.

The San Snova has five double cabins (with French beds 200 x 160 cm) and five triple cabins above deck (with French beds 200 x 160 cm and bunk beds 200 x 80 cm) as well as two three-bed-cabins and two four-bed-cabins below deck (all with single beds 200 x 90 cm). The fittings of the cabins as well as the saloon and the outside area are of superior quality with many carefully created details. The roomy sun deck offers comfortable mats for relaxing and lounge chairs are found on the afterdeck. So let yourself be pampered end enjoy the “Dream of Dreams” (San Snova), as the Scherka family named their new ship!

Itinerary

Day 1Trogir – Island Solta

Arrive during the morning at Split Airport and take a short taxi ride to the town of Trogir which is located about 3.5 miles away.  You can check in between 2-2.30 pm and the first cruise from Trogir to the island of Šolta begins at 3 pm. The first night is spent in a quiet harbour on the island of Solta with the opportunity to take a swim after a day of travel.

Day 2Island Vis 20 miles 31 km.

This morning we enjoy a cruise during breakfast time to the lovely Island of Vis. Vis is the furthermost inhabited island from mainland Croatia. A Greek colony called Issa inhabited the island 2,300 years ago. Due to its strategic location, it was a military zone until 1995 and prohibited for foreign tourists. Today we will have the opportunity to explore the lovely island on our cycle tour.

Day 3Island Korčula 18.5 miles 30 km.

In the morning we leave the island of Vis by boat and navigate to the harbour town of Vela Luka on the Island of Korčula. Along the way we throw the anchor for a refreshing swim stop if the weather is permitting. Korčula is regarded as one of the most scenic islands in the Adriatic, abundant in beautiful landscapes and quaint villages nestled within the green surroundings. Once we arrive in Vela Luka we can enjoy a round tour from Vela Luka to the village of Blato and back again. The night is spent in Vela Luka.

Day 4Island Hvar: Hvar Town – Stari Grad – Jelsa – Stari Grad 14 miles 22 km + 12 miles 20 km.

Today we start with a relaxing cruise to Hvar town on Hvar Island. Make use of the time before the cycle tour starts and go for a little stroll through the city. Standing on the magnificent Renaissance Square you can enjoy a view up to the Spanish fortress towering high above the city. The cycle tour today will take us from the city of Hvar passing through small villages and lavender fields to Stari Grad on the opposite side of the island. The descent to Stari Grad offers breathtaking views. After a lunch break, we continue with the second part of our cycling tour through the green planes of the island to the seaside town of Jelsa. After a break for coffee and ice cream, we continue the round trip back to Stari Grad where we spend the night.

Day 5Brač Island: Milna – Postira 18 miles 29 km.

In the morning we cruise to the island of Brač, famous for its radiant, precious limestone that was, among others, used for the White House in Washington and in the construction of the German Reichstag building in Berlin. Once we have arrived at Brač, we start our bike tour from Milna to the picturesque harbor town of Postira. At first, we cycle inland through small villages and past local architectural relics before hugging the coast with spectacular views across the channel to the mainland. On arrival in Postira there are many ways in which to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. The night is spent in the quiet harbour of Postira.

Day 6 City of Split (Rafting in Omiš) 10 miles 17 km.

During breakfast, the boat brings us to the city of Split. The old town of Split, built adjoining the famous palace of the Roman Caesar Diocletian, is a UNESCO world heritage site.  Today we have the choice either to go rafting through the Cetina Canyon (not included in the tour price) or to explore the wonderful Marjan forest Park in Split by bike. The rafting group will be picked up from the boat by bus and taken to Omiš for the excursion. From here they will follow the river downstream in the rafts gaining a unique perspective of the canyon and its flora and fauna. Those on the rafting trip are brought back to the boat on the bus after the activity. Cyclists will enjoy a short but scenic cycle ride through the green heart of Split accompanied by an extensive swim break at a local beach. In the afternoon we can explore the bustling city of Split again together as one group.

Day 7Šolta Island - Trogir 12.5 miles 20 km.

In the morning, we one more cruise to the island of Šolta, where there will be the opportunity to take part in a bike ride to the local beekeeper Goran. Goran has a true passion for bees and has worked with them his whole life. He teaches us about the importance of bees and allows all his guests to try the delicious bee products. We then cycle past walled fields, numerous olive groves, locust bean, and fig trees which line the roads. The scent of rosemary accompanies us along our tour around the island. After our bike ride, we return to the ship to enjoy our last crossing, past the cliffs of Čiovo Island and back to Trogir. Once we arrive, there will be plenty of time to visit the Old Town of Trogir, listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

Day 8Trogir (Disembarkation)
