It is a requirement of booking this tour with Hooked on Cycling that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the chosen activity and for emergency evacuation and hospital care.
Arrive in Crêches-sur-Saône and check into your hotel. Your bikes will be waiting, pre-fitted and ready to ride. If time allows set off on a scenic loop through rolling vineyards including Saint-Vérand and Pouilly-Fuissé, before reaching the iconic Rock of Solutré. This dramatic limestone formation is not only a striking landmark but also an important prehistoric site linked to the Solutrean culture.
Leaving Crêches-sur-Saône, you ride straight into the heart of Beaujolais wine country, passing through legendary appellations such as Juliénas, Saint-Amour, Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent. Take time for a tasting if you wish, or stop in Romanèche-Thorins to visit the renowned Georges Duboeuf Wine Museum.
From here, the ride becomes more demanding as you climb into the Terrasse d’Avenas, a stunning area offering panoramic views across the Beaujolais hills. A rewarding descent brings you to Beaujeu, the historic capital of the region. After visiting its 12th-century church, continue the final kilometres to Villié-Morgon, your destination for the night.
Today you explore the landscapes of Beaujolais Vert (Green Beaujolais). Heading south from Villié-Morgon, you start with an easy stretch along the Voie Verte du Beaujolais, a 15 km greenway winding gently through peaceful countryside.
The challenge returns as you leave the greenway, riding quiet back roads through vineyards and charming villages, with sweeping views of the surrounding hills. After completing the loop, return to your hotel and relax with a glass of local Beaujolais rouge.
Still craving Beaujolais scenery? Today delivers in style. The highlight is the climb of Mont Brouilly (484 m), one of the finest viewpoints in Southern Burgundy. Its slopes are covered in Côte de Brouilly vineyards, while the summit is crowned by a 19th-century chapel that remains a place of pilgrimage.
From here, the route continues through wooded hills and vineyard-lined roads before descending towards Blacé, where you’ll stay for the next two nights.
Your final ride takes you through the Pierres Dorées region, famous for its villages built from warm, golden-coloured stone. Cycle through vineyards at the southern edge of Burgundy, soaking up the last views of this remarkable landscape.
With several route options available, you can choose how long — and how challenging — you want your final day to be. Pick up a bottle or two of Beaujolais to take home, or stop for one last photo to remember your adventure. A perfect finale to your cycling holiday in Beaujolais.
After breakfast, prepare for your onward journey and your transfer to Lyon, or continue your travels independently.
