Enjoy this fabulous cycling holiday through Bavaria in Germany. Along this cycle tour of romantic Franconia, you will be able to experience and taste the Bavarian brewing tradition. You will cycle along the Beer Cycle Route in the Aisch Valley, which has an average of one brewery per kilometre making it the area with the highest concentration of breweries in the world. Along the route, you will be able to enjoy the laid-back atmosphere in beautiful beer gardens. You will also have the chance to discover cities such as Rothenburg, Nuremberg and Bamberg, which impress with their medieval townscapes.
Nuremberg
You will cycle on mainly on quiet farm roads, side roads and sometimes along forest trails or field paths. You will encounter some hilly sections with small inclines.

During the day arrive at the city of Nuremberg with its thousand years of history. If you arrive earlier enough visit the old imperial town with its mighty castle, famous churches and museums. Right in the centre of this metropolis with half a million inhabitants, the townhouses, proud churches, the castle and 5 km of walls that encircle the town.
Today you cycle out of Nuremberg, the largest city in the region of Franconia along the Regnitz cycle path. You shall be cycling in a northerly direction passing green meadows and shady alluvial forests. Shortly you shall arrive at your destination Erlangen with is a well-known university.
Some lovely landscapes today with the Steigerwald on your left and Franconian Switzerland on your right. You will cycle downstream through the Regnitz Valley and enjoy beautiful landscapes. You will come across some impressive weirs on the river today. Twice, at the Strullendorf lock and the Hirschaid hydroelectric power station where will, you cross the Main-Danube Canal.
The first part of today’s route leads you back along some of yesterday’s route. You can shorten the route by taking the train to Hirschaid (price not included). After Hirschaid you will follow the valley of the small Aisch River to Neustadt.
Your last day of cycling leads you to Bad Windsheim, where you will be able to admire the beautiful Old Town as well as the Franconian Open-Air Museum. Historic buildings have been reconstructed here on a large open-air site. In the Museum’s guesthouse, you will have the opportunity to taste the home-brewed beer before continuing your cycle. Once you have returned to Rothenburg you will be able to bring your holiday to an end against the town’s medieval backdrop. Don’t miss a town tour with the night watchmen!
Your cycle tour today will leave Rothenburg along the Taubertal valley where you will follow the Burgenstrasse cycle path. In Colmberg, the mighty Zollernburg castle towers over the town, this is well worth a look before you continue. Now you follow the Franconian Rezat to Ansbach, a splendid margrave residential town. You keep following the Burgenstrasse to Wolframs-Eschenbach. This is a wonderful medieval town with much to see.
Today you follow the Burgenstrasse cycle path again. You shall cycle past the moated castle in Lichtenau before reaching Roth. Here you can visit Ratibor castle before you follow the Main-Danube Canal to Nuremberg. The castle, which has accommodated numerous emperors and kings majestically overlooks this imperial city.
After breakfast, your Beer Tour, unfortunately, comes to an end.
By Plane to Frankfurt, then a train ride to Nuremberg or fly direct to Nuremberg.
