Time to enjoy and wonderful hiking experience as you walk from the famous vineyards of Piemonte, such as Barolo to the Mediterranean Sea. First, you start in Piemonte’s Langhe region, frankly the gourmet region in Italy. The Langhe is famous worldwide for its truffles, cheese and most of all the world-famous wine. This stunning region is especially easy to explore along picturesque hiking trails through vineyards and medieval villages situated in an imposing location on top of hills. Then you move into the Liguria region and the Liguria’s mountains. Over the mountain range, you shall be met with panoramic views, with glances onto the snow-capped Maritime Alps, the impressive Monte Rosa-massif and soon onto the turquoise-blue coastline. Along colourful paths and accompanied by Mediterranean vegetation you arrive at the Flower Riviera, where you can contemplate your impressive week of hiking in the renowned spa town of San Remo over a glass of wine.

During the first few days in the Langhe region, you will walk on undulating terrain including gravel, forest and dirt paths. Some section across the mountains are on stony trails, where surefootedness is required during short sections. Once along the coast, narrow trails await, particularly with great views. With nearly all daily hiking tours there are easier options to choose from.
It is a requirement of booking this tour with Hooked on Walking that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the chosen activity and for emergency evacuation and hospital care.
During the day arrive at the gourmet town of Alba. Alba has a lovely pretty old centre with countless bars and restaurants inviting you to sample Piedmont delicacies.
Today you will have an enchanting first hike which leads you through the vineyards of the Langhe-region. You will come across amazing views during the walk. Via La Morra, renowned for its numerous wine stores, you continue along beside the grapevines of the famous Barolo wine into the world-renowned little village of Barolo. Here you can take a stroll through the alleyways to the fort and enjoy a glass of this noble wine. You continue along a forest path into the stunningly beautiful hilltop village of Monforte.
Today firstly your route takes you on undulating terrain through more vineyards, soon however you come across more and more hazelnut groves until you reach the picturesque villages of Roddino and Serravalle, where you enjoy a panoramic view from the so-called Langhe-balcony. You then ascend along a hiking trail to the Alta Langa, where the village of roses Bossolasco awaits you with wonderfully fragrant flowers and an impressive location at the top of a mountain chain.
Today you walk along the mountain ridge, passing grazing herds of sheep towards Murazzano, where some famous cheese is produced. Then you cross some remote farmland and vast cornfields with views onto the snow-capped Maritime Alps until you ascend to the highest peak of the Langhe. Here old stone houses and chapels line the path. In the distance, you will start to see the sea. Lastly, you have a short transfer into the little town of Millesimo, whose old part of town is considered one of Italy’s most beautiful.
Firstly, today you have a short transfer up to the Melogno pass, where you continue along a high-altitude path called the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri. Then via a mountain trail, you reach the Monte Carmo summit, from this peak, the sea seems within one’s reach. In the evening you reach the little village of Bardineto, situated amidst wooded mountain peaks.
Today you hike along the Ligurian long-distance path Sentiero Liguria, with spectacular panoramic views onto mountains, coastline and islands as you meander along the mountain ridge towards the sea. The leisurely option leads you into the medieval village of Castelvecchio and downhill to Zuccarello, from where you take the bus to Albenga. Today your overnight stay is located directly at the coast, so enjoy a dip in the waves before you sample the local fish at the beach restaurant.
Today your final walk is a coastal hike with a great view. Initially, you walk along the coast, then you ascend to the Alta Via Baia del Sole. This is a truly amazing hiking path along fragrant Macchia-bushes leading you via the peak of the Monte Bignone. Now you walk across terraced fields and fruit groves until you descend into the coastal village of Alassio, where you can get to experience the flair of Italian ice-cream, cafés and neat lidos. Spectacular views onto the turquoise-blue sea at the flower riviera accompany you along your train ride into the famous town of San Remo.

NOTE: On arrival in July and in August, you will stay 2 nights in San Remo, missing the night in Albenga.
By plane to Turin (around 1.5 hours) or Milan (around 3 hours) and then my train to Alba.
