This walking holiday in Slovenia explores the stunning Julian Alps. Set off exploring and enjoy the stunning alpine views walking in Slovenia. The starting location is near to Kranjska Gora; a wonderful alpine town not far from the Austrian border and in the foothills of the Julian Alps. From here you will walk through the Jasna Valley, and maybe even enjoy lunch at the Krnica hut. After exploring on another hike, you will transfer to Lake Bled; the famous Slovenia lake. Make sure to take some great photos of the lake before enjoying some of the famous cake at the Park Hotel. There is a choice of a rest day or a nice walk around Lake Bohinj and also a chance to visit the Savica waterfall.

Kranjska Gora/Podkoren
This tour is in high mountains but generally walking at low levels or downhill after a transfer. The walking tour is graded level 2.

The famous ski resort of Kranjska Gora is the starting point for this tour. Also a popular ski resort, it is most famous for hosting the annual World Cup Slalom every January. You will spend your first night here in the shadows of the mighty western Julian Alps.
Your warming up walk will take you via a trail to the end of Jasna Valley. Emerging at the other end is a glorious mountain arena of the Prisank and Razor Mountains. A typical hikers lunch can be taken in Krnica hut. Upon return, one can visit the “Russian Chapel” a touching monument dedicated to Russian POVs’ who died during WW1 while building the military road over Vršič Pass.
Today you shall walk to the summit of Mt. Peč (1508m) to the triple border point where Slovenia, Italy and Austria meet. At the top you can soak up the dramatic views across the Julian and Carnian Alps, with Hohe Tauern, the highest alpine range in Austria, forming a picturesque backdrop. The trail then descends through the valley to the source of the mighty Sava River, the longest in Slovenia, and back to Kranjska Gora ski resort.
This is a resort changing day! Kranjska Gora to Bled. After a short car transfer through the Radovna valley, the days walk begins. The route follows the wonderful unspoilt stream of the Radovna river all the way to its natural treasure the Vintgar gorge, a mile-long canyon with a 30m waterfall on the end. Finally, the walk goes past the Katarina church viewpoint through the world-famous Lake Bled resort and your destination, a romantic small village of Selo, some 2 km from towns’ centre. Overnight in a family-owned hotel.
A day to explore Bled – its lake, island church with “The bell of wishes”, the castle on the rock. A short panoramic walk can be taken to the villages of Kupljenik and Bela. Photographers will want to ascend Osojnica, best photos of the lake, castle and Karawanke range can be taken from here in the afternoon light. We recommend as a must that you stop at the Park hotel and sample the famous cake. Overnight in a family-owned hotel.
First, you will have a short car transfer to the top of Pokljuka high plateau, here a 7.5 mile downhill walk to Lake Bohinj starts. This high plateau is a good starting point for more demanding tours. Hiking across mountain pastures, farmers lodges to high viewing points of Bohinj valley can be seen. In Studor village a farmers museum can be visited, set in an old, intact farmhouse. See how people of the region lived 150 years ago. Overnight in 4-star hotel.
A day for rest or an easy hike around Lake Bohinj (in the summer months one can swim in its’ crystal clear waters). Also to be visited is the Savica waterfall, 70m high source of Sava Bohinjka river. As a side trip, a cable car ride up Vogel mountain, 1532m high can be taken. And perhaps local pubs with excellent lake trout. Overnight in 4-star hotel.

From the airport, you can take a train to Jesenice and then a short taxi ride, on the return trip from Bled-Lesco to Ljubjana (Total travelling time around 1 hour)
