Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our cycling holidays in Spain. This particular biking vacation in Catalonia is an easy level family cycling tour or for people who want to cycle in safe cycle lanes and avoid climbs. You will discover Catalonia cycling on a disused railway track from the volcanic region of La Garrotxa, in the interior, to the Costa Brava passing through the fascinating medieval city of Girona. All hotels have swimming pools and you finish with two nights by the beach on a lovely part of the Costa Brava.

Itinerary

Day 1Individual arrival to Olot.

You can fly to Girona or Barcelona international airport and use our private transfers. Olot is only 66 km from Girona and 128km from Barcelona. Stay two nights at a small family run hotel in Olot with swimming pool in the forest in the outskirts of the town.

Day 2 Olot Circular route 11-16 miles 18 – 26 km, up 480m

Today you cycle along paths and dirt tracks to explore the natural park of la Garrotxa and visit its extinct volcanoes that are the largest in the Spanish Peninsula. Enjoy the swimming pool and the lovely gardens at your hotel once you return.

Day 3Olot to Les Planes d’Hostoles 18 miles 28 km, up 170m

Today you cycle by following the Via Verde or disused railway line with no traffic and mainly downhill to your hotel in Les Planes d’Hostoles a large art Nouveau house built in 1906, set it is own beautiful grounds

Day 4Les Planes d’Hostoles to Girona city 22 miles 35 Km, up 10m

Today you have a short cycle along the cycle lane into the city of Girona to be able to have plenty of time to explore the city centre of this medieval charming Medieval city.

Day 5Girona to Sant Feliu de Guixols 27 miles 43 km, up 140m

After a day exploring the city of Girona yesterday, today you leave the city on another cycle path which is a disused railway line. The route is easy and flat and takes into the Costa Brava region. Soon you shall arrive at the sea where your hotel is a short distance from the shoreline and also has a swimming pool.

Day 6 Excursion by bike 11-16 miles 17-25 Km or simply enjoy the beach, up 82m

One last day by the sea resting and enjoying the pool and the beach or doing one of our suggested rides.

Depart after breakfast.
