Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our cycling holidays in Spain. This biking vacation in Majorca is available as a 7-night self-guided cycle tour graded level 2. When God finished creating Southern Europe, he had some landscapes leftover and decided to make an island in the sea where they would all fit in Mallorca. At least, this is what the Mallorquins say, when they try to explain why their island is such an attractive mix of different types of Mediterranean landscapes.
The gently undulating and very fertile inland countryside is surrounded by sandy beaches, impressive cliffs, quiet Mediterranean woods of pine, carob and oak trees, and an impressive limestone mountain range to the west. Ideal terrain for cycling. We have carefully designed this cycling tour to take you along quiet inland tarmac roads, away from the tourist and industrial centres of South Mallorca.
You will stay at two charming accommodations, one is a classic 11 bedrooms adult only Boutique 4 star hotel surrounded by lovely Mallorquin countryside. It has a lovely Pool and great restaurant. The other is an elegant hotel in the historic centre of Pollença, one of the most beautiful towns of the entire island.
Palma
Can Joan Capó is the perfect place for travellers who appreciate peace and quiet, good food, this special something and personalized service. A four-star boutique hotel in a traditional Majorcan home that has been lovingly converted with great attention to detail. Swimming Pool and sun terrace, sauna and massage room.
Hotel Son Sant Jordi is a family and little boutique hotel located in Pollensa old town, on the square of Sant Jordi, just 5 minutes walk from the Main Square. An inviting old house, which has been restored into a cosy little hotel. Enjoy a quiet atmosphere and friendly service during your stay in Mallorca.
The hotel includes 8 double rooms, some of them with a hydromassage bath and view to the garden and pool area, and a restaurant, with a pleasant terrace on the small square of Sant Jordi. The hotel also has an annexe which occasionally can get booked if there is no availability in the main hotel. The restaurant offers a fixed menu and A la carte with Mediterranean cuisine, very delicious plates and a full hot buffet breakfast. There is a quiet garden with a swimming pool and a typical Mallorquín terrace, as well as a sauna for you to enjoy.
It is a requirement of booking this tour with Hooked on Cycling that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the chosen activity and for emergency evacuation and hospital care.
Arrive at your boutique hotel in Sineu, where you will stay for 4 nights.
During your stay at the farm estate, you choose among three cycling tours, 43 to 57km long, which can be combined with short hikes or extended with detours to interesting vista points or cultural highlights. These tours take you over flat countryside dotted with typical Mallorquin windmills, to hilltop hermitages with magnificent views, through the undulating patchwork of vineyards and woods in the east and into beautiful historical villages like Petra
On this ride, you shall start off by cycling through some beautiful countryside, olive groves and vineyards, to reach the historical town of Sineu. Sineu has an impressive Gothic church and you shall enjoy exploring the narrow lanes and lively outdoor terraces. You then continue biking to Petra, the birthplace of Fray Juniperus Serra (the European ‘founder’ of California), where the monastery and iconographic museum are worth a visit. The hilltop Hermitage of Bonnay is a prime spot to stop for lunch. Finally, the route follows quiet country roads and dirt tracks back to your hotel.
First, we cycle across the Palma-Inca highway and then you traverse almond and olive orchards on the slopes of the Tramuntana mountain range to reach the village of Alaró. This has a lovely castle worth exploring. To avoid 3km of heavy traffic on the road, you follow ancient footpaths linking Binissalem and Alaró (with just a short 500m section which is not suitable for cycling). On your return, you will descend a beautiful inland road which winds through an authentic rural landscape, past impressive estates and historic villages.
Today you shall pass plenty of classic Mallorquin windmills to admire as you turn and cycle south. You’ll have the choice of visiting 3 hermitages on the ascent up Puig de Randa (450m extra to ascent), but the scenery is just as nice if you choose to cycle directly to Llucmajor then around the Puig. Later, a dirt road takes you to Montuiri and back to the hotel.
A 43km ride from through a quiet valley with carob plantations and Mediterranean oak trees in the Sierra Montana foothills. You pass the huge bay of Puerto Pollença, a tranquilly chic beach resort, and end up in the historical town of Pollença. Your luggage will be transported by car.
This cycling route takes you to the tourist hotspot of Sa Pobla, you also have an optional side excursion via Muro and Santa Margalida, riding through typical Mallorcan landscapes of windmills and fields of artichokes. You then reach a tiny but beautiful corner of the world, the marshlands at S’Albufera, a section where you can see many interesting birds.
Today you can select between an easier ride to the beautiful beaches on the north coast or a more strenuous climb to Lluc Monastery (especially demanding on hot days or at weekends, when there’s lots of traffic).
Depart after breakfast.

Our first hotel – Hotel Rural Son Jorda – was very good. The breakfast was very good. We loved our hotel in Pollença and were upgraded to a three-bedroom apartment. The pool and garden are like an oasis in the middle of the town. The breakfast was excellent and there were many great restaurants to try. We found the route directions very detailed and easy to follow. Most of the routes took us on very quiet country roads making the cycling very relaxing and mostly stress-free.
