Come and discover the Balearics on our walking holidays in Majorca. On this Balearic island walking holidays, you will explore Mallorca which will take you along the wonderful mountain range of the Sierra de Tramuntana in the northwest of Majorca. The northwest coast of Mallorca is a surprisingly beautiful and a quiet area, separated from the popular ‘playas’ by a whimsical limestone mountain range, the Sierra de Tramuntana.
During this Balearics holiday, you enjoy hiking in Majorca through picturesque villages, along coastal cliffs and idyllic beaches and a walk from Lake Cuber at the top of the range. You will cross private estates with orange, almond and olive trees. You stay at two traditional Mallorquin manor houses which have been converted to luxury hotels and one comfortable beach hotel.

It is a requirement of booking this tour with Hooked on Walking that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the chosen activity and for emergency evacuation and hospital care.
Arrive at Palma airport and take a taxi or public transport to Valldemossa. Valldemossa is a small town built around an old Carthusian monastery. Local residents proudly recall the historical year in which Frederic Chopin and George Sand, early European bohemians, wintered here.
This day walk follows a horse-riding trail designed by Archduke Ludwig Salvador, renowned “connaisseur” of the island who spent his life investigating the geology and botany of Mallorca. The walking route offers magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea. There is the possibility of extending the walk with an ascent to Es Teix peak (1062m).
After a short transfer, you walk from the artists’ colony of Deia to the coastal town of Port Soller. Your Mallorca walk follows the coastline, through quiet Mediterranean woodlands (pines, oaks and strawberry trees). You even cross a private estate where there is delicious fresh orange juice is served.
Today you start off with a taxi transfer to Cala Tuent, a summer village with a lovely beach, to begin a 6-hour walk back to Port Soller. First, you follow the coastline, then hike inland among orange groves and olive orchards, in one of the most remote valleys of Mallorca.
From the port, you do a steep ascent to the cliffs which form a natural breakwater overlooking the bay. At the top, you have lovely views from ‘Torre Picada’ along the rocky coastline to the tiny island of S’Illeta just offshore. You then do a steep descent along a ravine to reach ‘Sa Punta Llarga’, a promontory which affords another splendid vista point, this time from sea level.
Today is the last walking day of your Majorca walking route. It is an interesting hike through the very heart of the Serra de Tramuntana. You start with a 20-min transfer up to the reservoir at Lake Cuber. The first section follows a wide path along the lake to Col de l’Ofre (885m). Optional ascent to the summit (Puig de l’Ofre, 1095m) then a spectacular 800m descent through a narrow gorge, down to the village of Binairaix. Impressive views for the entire route. At the end of the day, taxi transfer back to Porto Soller.
Depart after breakfast.
By plane to Majorca (Palma) and then by public transport or private transfer to Vallamossa. The last bus from Palma to Vallmossa is around 19:30, 18:30 on Sundays. Subject to change

Hotels were both lovely, excellent positions, friendly, good breakfasts. There was some confusion about the “Seaview room” at Los Geranios. We were allocated a small, non-seaview room. But a transfer was quickly arranged to a partial sea-view room. Taxis were prompt and flexible. (We made some changes). The walks were lovely. We don’t use GPS but discovered later that there are apps on which we could have used your provided GPS files.
