Welcome to Hooked on Cycling holidays and our cycling holiday which covers 4 countries. This biking vacation will take you from the Alps and then north to Lake Constance along easy cycle paths beside the River Rhine. The Swiss Alpine Rhine connects the mountains of Graubünden with Lake Constance. Starting your cycling trip in Constance, you will be transferred up into the mountains to the south of Lake Constance where you shall then cycle through four countries; Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria and Germany. The tour follows gently downhill alongside the Rhine on good quality paths. Enjoy the air-dried Bündner meat, a Pinot Noir or whitefish and perch from Lake Constance on your arrival.
Constance (Konstanz)
You will cycle along mostly dedicated cycle paths and quiet roads. The terrain is flat and sometimes hilly. Some sections will be on rough paths. The first day’s ride is more a level 3 ride.

It is a requirement of booking this tour with Hooked on Cycling that you have suitable travel insurance which covers you for the chosen activity and for emergency evacuation and hospital care.
During the course, of the day arrive in Constance which can be reached by train from Zurich or Munich (longer travelling time).
After breakfast, you will have a transfer up into the mountains to the town of Splügen which is south of the Lake. Here you shall start your cycling adventure as you comfortably roll downhill, following the river Rhine through the Graubünden region to the town of Bonaduz. On the way, you pass by the gorge of Viamala which has been impressively carved deep into the rock by the river Rhine.
Today will take you up and above a difference of 700m in altitude. To start off the day you will take a train to Disentis. You will then cycle along the Vorder Rhine through the Rhaeto-Romanic Alpen Valley. Shortly after Ilanz the route takes you up a long, but not a very steep hill. Once you’ve reached the peak, you are immediately rewarded with the sight of the canyon Rhine Ruinalta ravine. Admire the views before you return to Bonaduz.
Today your route takes you along the Alpine Rhine through Switzerland for a while, until you reach the Principality of Liechtenstein. The fourth-smallest state in Europe is known for its medieval castles and mountain views. When you arrive in the capital of Liechtenstein, Vaduz Castle welcomes you immediately. It is the symbol of Vaduz and towers over the city.
Today you’re going to be cycling in three different countries: After a short time, you will have cycled through Liechtenstein, which is only 25 km long. You continue cycling into and through Austria and back into Switzerland. Here the route takes you slowly downhill towards Lake Constance, which welcomes you with its many sailing boats on its glittering water.
Today on your bike you follow the banks of the lake almost all the way. On your way, you shall pass through the small town of Romanshorn until you reach Constance. This route is flat, with the exception, of a possible wind from the west, is easy to master. Along the route, you shall pass several bathing spots where you can refresh yourself in the cool water.
After breakfast, you start your individual return journey home.
