Tips On Choosing Your Ideal Cycling Holiday

Where do you want to go?

Do you have a list of countries that you want to see? If you do then check out the country pages of those countries you’re interested in and see if there are any tours that sound of interest to you.

Level of Tour

You know your own fitness level and what you want to achieve from your holiday. If you just want to relax and cycle each day then a level 1, 2 or 1-2 tour should be suitable. However, even a level 2-3 some people may find a suitable tour, if they cycle often and have a good fitness level. Or if you are looking for a challenge then depending on your fitness level 3+ tour may just be what you are looking for.

Type of Scenery

What type of scenery do you enjoy? Coastal scenery or something more inland? Depending on what your preference is, will narrow down your choice in finding your ideal cycling holiday.

What type of traveller are you?

Are you a foodie? If so, then you should be looking for countries which have great food (for example France or Italy). Are you into the culture? History? Or do you enjoy most things and just love to explore and learn new things? Once you have decided what you are interested in then you can narrow down the search and find the cycling holiday that will offer the most fun for you. If you are looking for something to keep the whole family happy then our 10 Lakes Family Holiday could be an ideal choice.

Budget

Do you have a strict budget in mind or are you flexible? If you have a price in mind then each of our tours have the price tables underneath the tour schedule. This means you can choose if a cycling holiday is too expensive or not. Remember you also have to consider how expensive the country is that you intend to visit. Some countries are more expensive than others.

Type of accommodation

Do you like a bit of luxury? If so, then you would be looking for tours where 4 star accommodation are available. If however, you don’t mind as long as you have somewhere nice to sleep then 2-3 star accommodation would be a great option. You also need to consider if you like big chain hotels or small family run places which may have more character. If you fancy something a little different then you could check out our bike and boat holidays, and stay on-board a “floating hotel”.

Access

Can you easily get to the country you intend to go to via your local airport? If not how expensive will it be to go to another airport so you can get to that country? You need to make sure you don’t choose a cycling holiday and then find out it is going to go over your budget on travelling there!
