This biking vacation in the Alsace is a nice and easy cycling tour through a very picturesque region of France. This cycling tour in France we have graded as a level 2 tour. This cycle tour is a self guided tour and can be started any day except Sundays. This region is a great wine region of France with many of France's famous wines coming from the area. Famous white wines from Alsace such as Riesling, Sylvaner and Pinot Blanc go very well with fish and seafood meals.
Gewurztraminer is better with foie gras, spiced dishes, strong cheeses or as a dessert wine so as you can see you will have many chances to sample great wines are French food.

Individual arrival into Strasbourg , why not check into your hotel and then head out to explore this wonderful city.
Day 2: Strasbourg - Sermersheim (approx. 45 km/28 miles)
Today you cycle towards Sermershiem leaving Strasbourg behind you as you cycle southwards, along the Rhine-Rhône channel, to Sermersheim. This is a wonderful first days cycling to get you started. Take plenty of stops to admire views of the great river and why not stop for a typical French lunch and relax with a glass of the regions wine. Not too much though as you still need to cycle to your destination.
Day 3: Sermersheim - Colmar (approx. 50 km/31 miles)
Another pleasant days cycling . Today`s stretch leads you first to Ebermunster where you can visit the famous organ in the baroque church and then continues to the lively city of Colmar with its picturesque city centre and its uncountable sights. All you have to remember is that you have all day to make the trip and to make sure you sample more wines along the way.
Day 4: Colmar - Ottmarsheim (approx. 55 km/35 miles)
Today's biking will take you through more sleepy villages. It seems sometimes as though life as stood still even when still not far from the busy city of Strasbourg . This is sleepy France, playing boules on the village square , relaxing in the shade on the kitchen chair , older ladies maybe doing there dress making outside. Also today you have a dreamy landscape which will be your companions on your way to Ottmarsheim. Take some time to visit the dome of the 12th century church.
Day 5: Ottmarsheim - Guebwiller (approx. 50 km/31 miles)
Maybe today the scenery changes a little with the Vosges mountains in closer view. More lovely quiet roads and tiny villages await you as you cycle your way to Guebwiller with its Dominican Abbey. You are now in close view of the Vosges Mountains.
Day 6: Guebwiller - Riquewihr (approx. 50 km, 31 miles)
Enjoy your today`s stretch through quaint villages with half-timbered houses and pass Albert Schweitzer`s birth place at Kaysersberg until you reach the pearl of the wine route, Riquewihr.
Day 7: Riquewihr - Obernai (approx. 55 km/35 miles)
A wonderful day today biking alongside vineyards and soft green hills to the wine-growing village of Obernai. You really know that you are in a wine region , seems there are vines in all directions . Of course why not sample more wine along the way !.
Day 8: Obernai - Strasbourg (approx. 40 km/28 miles)
Passing Avolsheim you will reach Strasbourg in the early afternoon. Individual departure once you arrive of maybe take an extra night so to visit the city again.
