Lake Garda is roughly 20 minutes away from Verona. This makes it a great destination for a cycling holiday, as it is easily accessible. If your airline doesn’t fly into Verona then Venice or Milan airports are only about 100km away.
We have several cycling holidays in the Lake Garda area, like our moving on tour like our Innsbruck to Lake Garda tour.
So why is it great for a cycling holiday you might ask?
Why Lake Garda Is Perfect For A Cycling Holiday
Great For Families/Non Cyclists/Cyclists
On our family in Lake Garda cycling holiday, we have several attractions for you to visit in the Lake Garda area. Your children definitely won’t be bored on this holiday. That being said non-cyclists can also enjoy a fixed location holiday, as they can use public transport to get around…or just explore on foot. Relaxing by the water’s edge and watching the world go by sounds pretty awesome to us.
Great Scenery
If the views of Lake Garda weren’t enough, then you must see it from above. Head to Monte Baldo for some impressive views of Lake Garda and the surrounding areas, giving a totally different perspective to how this area was formed. Not only will you enjoy the views, you could go for a wander on foot, or just sit and enjoy the views at the mountain top restaurant.
History
For those interested in history, then there are plenty of lake side towns and villages to explore. Each has a story behind it, for example Sirmione, Malcesine or Desenzano del Garda. Sirmione is one of our personal preferences for exploring on foot. With hardly any traffic, you can fully appreciate this town. The castle at Sirmione is also one of the most photographed castles in the area. You will have bound to have seen it in a brochure somewhere!
Italian Food
Who doesn’t love Italian Food? Having a son who is both gluten and milk free, heading to Italy always seems a little daunting. However, with gluten free pasta and even pizza available, everyone can enjoy the food whether they have a food intolerance or not. Perfect!
Tip: If staying in Peschiera del Garda, Bella Vista is a great restaurant to try. My son loved his gluten/milk free pizza.
Italian’s love cycling
If the locals love to cycle, then you know it’s a great place to go. With terrain suitable for all abilities, everyone can enjoy a cycling holiday in Lake Garda. It is a cyclist’s paradise!
