Welcome to Hooked on Cycling holidays and our bike and barge holidays in Germany. Taking a bike and barge vacation in Germany is a superb way to relax. By the day you have gentle rides along beautiful lanes and cycle ways while the barge moves to your next port of call. Of course if you decide to stay on board no problem you can sunbath and watch the world go by as the barge gently sails to the next port. This cycling holiday is a 7 night self guided/guided tour. You will also be aboard a luxury barge with lovely public areas. You could even take our Moselle Valley cycle tour and the join this trip afterwards to extend your vacation by an extra week and return back by boat along the Moselle River. From Saarbruken you can then easily return to Metz or elsewhere by train. What better way to spend you vacation time. These are holidays to unwind, the combination of specially adapted river cruise boats and pedalling in colourful countryside on the idyllic rivers Moselle and Saar sounds like a good recipe for a successful holiday. Enjoy tranquil river meadows and savoir vivre, art nouveau meets Little-Venice, old wine-growing villages, traces of Roman culture and culinary highlights. The pleasures of well-being are well-known on the rivers Moselle and Saar.

You cycle on very good cycle paths. The Moselle cycle path follows mostly flat metalled roads. This cycle tour is perfectly suitable for first-timer. Moreover you can stay on board any day.

Saturday Individual journey to Koblenz
Arrival to Koblenz and embarkation, enjoy a cordial welcome by the crew
Sunday Koblenz-Moselkern-Cochem, cycle tour approx. 22 miles 37 km
The boat brings us to Alken. Here we mount our bicycles and cycle to Moselkern. A short detour into Elztal and a hike up to fortress Eltz. Then we join the boat again at Cochem.
Monday Cochem- Zell ander Mosel, cycle tour approx. 21 miles 35 km
Monday - Cochem-Zell an der Mosel, cycle tour approx. 35 km
Beautiful Beilstein with intact medieval historic old town belongs together with Rothenburg ob der Tauber to the historic treasures of Germany. During a city walk many historic details will be explained. This day comes to a gentle end in wine-grower town “Zell” with wine-tasting and a tasty dinner.
Tuesday - Zell an der Mosel – Bernkastel-Kues, 25 miles 41 km
Idyllic Traben Trarbach displays historic architecture at it’s best. Bernkastel is an ideal place to stroll on the stylish medieval market square. After the city tour you join the boat again.
Wednesday - Bernkastel-Kues-Mehring, 21 miles 32 km
In the moning we take a visit to the largest wine growing cooperative along the Moselle. Then we bike to the oldest wine-grower town of Germany - Neumagen-Dhron. After a lunch break we continue to Piersport and onto Mehring where the boat is waiting for us.
Thursday - Mehring-Trier/Konz, 31 miles 35 km
Via Pfalzel you cycle to Trier and then on to Konz, where we rejoin the boat. Tiesling wines grow on the outskirts of the Trier. Trier is said to be the oldest city of Germany so it is worthwhile a visit. The Roman routes are present by the magnificent Porta Nigra abd Constantines Basilica, the amphie theatre as well as the Roman Spa Kaisertherme.
Friday - Konz-Wasserbilling(Luxemburg)-Saarburg, 18 miles 35 km
First by bike past the Igeler column to Wasserbilling in Luxenburg. In the afternoon cycle along the impressive Saar river bend and enjoy unsurpassed views on the 360 ° river bend from a scenic view point. Saarburg , Germany's Little Venice isfamous for a 20 m high waterfall inmidst of the city.
Saturday - Individual journey home
Tour is completed after breakfast.
MS Patria
The river-cruise boat has room for 38 guests and the owner is also the captain. Two sun decks, elegant panorama salon, all cabins equipped with TV and shower/toilet. The crew has been on the boat for a long time and their friendliness contributes a lot to the familiar and relaxed atmosphere on board.
